Editing your Project and its content

Elucidat is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor, which means that you can see all of your changes as you make them. You can edit your Project and its content using the Author and Layout editing modes. Different editing options are available in each mode.

  • Author
For editing content like text and media and applying settings to buttons and other parts.
  • Layout
For designing the structure of pages, adding new page elements and parts, and configuring how they are arranged.

You can switch editing modes by clicking the corresponding mode label above your Project.

Note
Your access to Author and Layout modes are controlled by the permissions enabled in your user role and your current access scope. You may see only one or neither mode if your permissions restrict you from editing. Contact your account administrator if you're unsure about your permissions or would like to change them.

Author mode

In Author mode, every editable page part has an Edit button, indicated by a pencil icon at the top-right corner of that element.

When you click a page part’s Edit button, the button will change to a tick, and the Edit menu will open. Here you can see the configuration options that are possible for that part.

Tip
You can also activate the edit options by double-clicking the page part you would like to edit.

Layout mode

In Layout mode, there are two main ways of editing content: adding new parts and editing them.

Parts in Layout have an edit button similar to the one in Author mode, except this one is represented by a spanner. When opened, you are presented with the possible options for this part.

You can add new parts to the page using the orange Add here buttons and new sections using the grey Add section buttons.

Saving your changes

Once you have made your edits press Save at the top right of the page to keep them or press CTRL+S in Windows or ⌘+S on Mac.

If you make an edit you don’t wish to keep, press the Undo button, which will remove all of the changes since your last save.
