If you would like to be able to identify the learners that have taken your Online Link Release by name, you will need to enable learner identification.
Enabling learner identification will mean that learners who access your Online Link Release will be prompted to provide their name and email address before being able to access the course:
Once they have submitted their details, the system will email them a new link, unique to them, which they can then use to access the course.
The unique link is valid for two days after which it will expire. If the link has expired, the learner will need to submit their details again to receive another unique link.
The personally identifiable details that your learners have provided will be shown in the Project’s Analytics in Your Data.
Note: Learner identification is not intended as a security feature, it is intended to provide learners with a way to identify themselves in Online Link releases. As with unrestricted Online Link releases, anyone who has the link will be able to access the release. If you'd like to restrict who can access your Online Link releases, you can use the domain restriction to only allow access to learners with specific email address domains. See Restricting access to an Online Link release for more information. |
Enabling learner identification
1. Go to Configure:
2. Select the Learner tracking tab:
3. Scroll down to the Learner access control dropdown menu:
4. Select Identify from the menu and save your changes:
Now that learner identification has been enabled, your learners will be prompted for their details and identified in all newly created (or re-released) Online Link Releases.
Caution: Learner identification cannot be used for a Multi-language release. |
Configuring learner identification settings
The login page will derive its appearance from your Project’s Style. If you’d like to customise it further, you can select the Edit Log-In Page button:
You can also modify the subject line and content of the email that provides your learners with their unique link. If they are left blank, the email will use the default text as seen below the Invitation email subject and Invitation email content fields.
There are a few ways in which to further customise the email that gets sent out to learners:
- Typing
{{project.name}}
into either the email subject field or content field will populate the field with the Project name in the email. - Typing
{{learner.name}}
will populate the email with the name that the learner provided on the Release’s log-in page. - Typing
{{project.link}}
will populate the email with the unique link that the learner can use to access the Project.
Note: If you’d like to use a custom message, then you’ll need to make sure you include {{project.link}} in order for the unique link to be included in the email. |
