Release highlights
This week’s release marks the end of our Q2 cycle. The team have been working incredibly hard to bring you a new collection of features to further improve your Elucidat experience.
New, unified user management
User Management has been overhauled to be clearer and easier to use. You can configure your users and their User Roles for both Elucidat Author and Create here as well as manage your Departments in Author, check your account usage, and access your Translation Glossary.
This page is accessible directly from both Author and Create so you can start managing users quickly from whichever platform you’re using at the time.
To find out how to start using the User Management interface, see Accessing the User Management page.
A new translation method
This release also brings the new Translate mode in Variations. We already have very established translation methods in Auto-Translate and translation by translation files, but this update introduces a significant enhancement for a third method: manual translation.
Now, users who are translating courses manually have the ability to open a clear and focused side-by-side view in the editing interface by switching to Translate mode. When this mode is enabled, a pane will open up next to the Project with editable text and media fields. These fields are shown side-by-side with the original Parent language so translators always have the context they need to translate accurately.
You can also highlight and jump to the element you’re editing in both the Project and the side-by-side view if you’re ever unsure which part you need to change.
This mode is also useful for translations that need to be reviewed by a native or fluent speaker.
To learn more about this new editing mode, see Using side-by-side mode to translate a course.
Auto-Translate tone and brevity
Tone and brevity controls allow for more control over your Auto-Translated courses. You now have the choice, for supported languages, to set whether the translated output uses formal or informal language as well as control how concise it is.
When brevity is applied, the resulting Auto-Translated course will favour shorter, more concise vocabulary and sentence structure.
With tone controls, you can modify the formality of the translation using one of two choices:
-
Formal
Word choice and grammar will favour a more formal register. -
Informal
Word choice and grammar will be more conversational and familiar.
To learn more, see Understanding tone and brevity controls for Auto-Translate.
Luci: AI Agent and live chat with Support
Luci is our new AI Support Agent.
In Elucidat Create, there is now a widget in the right-hand side of the page. When the widget is opened, you’ll be greeted by Luci who will give you the opportunity to ask a question or the option to talk to the Support team.
If you ask a question, Luci will search the Help Center and use generative AI to create a response that directly answers that question. Luci will also provide its Help Center sources, so you can find out more about the topic being discussed.
If you choose to talk to the Support team, Luci will connect you and an Elucidat Support team member will take over. You can continue the conversation with them in the chat window; they will be able to see your conversation history so you won’t need to repeat yourself if you’ve already asked Luci a question or provided information in the chat.
To learn more, see Interacting with the AI Support Agent.
Importantly, Luci is not replacing any of our existing support offerings. You can still get in contact with Support using the following methods:
- Submitting a ticket via the Support dashboard in the Help Center.
- Directly emailing Support at support@elucidat.com.
- Asking Luci to speak to the Support team
- Using the chat window in Elucidat Author

Note: These release notes focus on major
new
features, improvements, and bug fixes that users will experience
