You can add Clips and Reports to your text to show your learners different types of information and encourage self-reflection. Information that the learner has provided over the course of their elearning can be played back to them providing them with the opportunity to pause and review how they answered a certain question or summarise an action to take after the course is over.
Using Text Clips
Text input Clips enable your learners to input text into a course. Text input Clips can consist of either a single or multiple line response and are a great tool for courses where self reflection is important. You can then use an Inputted text Clip to display the text entered back to the learner. After the course has been released, the responses can be collected in the Your Data section on the Analyze page.

4. Select either the Text input - single line or Text input - multiple line option:

7. In Preview, the Clip will appear as an editable text field.
Note: The unique ID will be used when you want to display the learner's inputted response later on in the course. It’s a good idea to use something that makes sense to you in context, such as 'how_feeling_response' or 'firstname_entry' – especially if you’re planning on using multiple clips. |

Using Reports
Reports play back information relating to an answer given to a question. They can be great for encouraging your learners to review their answers and see whether they were tripped up by a tricky question or how their answer compares with their peers.
Total responses and Same as you can provide wider context by telling the learner the total responses to a question and how many other learners answered the same whereas How you answered plays back the answer the learner gave.
Adding a Report to your page
In order to use Reports, you'll first need to add a question to your page and configure that page to report a score. You find out how to do this in Building a question page and Recording scores for graded questions. When you've done this, you can start adding your Clip.
1. In Author, select the area in a text box where you would like to add the Clip.
2. From the text toolbar, select Insert > Graphs
3. In Page to graph results from, choose the page with the question whose answer you'd like to pull from. All pages that have been set to report a score in your Project will appear in this list:
4. In the Graph type drop down, choose one of the Clips described above:
5. Select Insert
Collecting responses in Your Data
Once the course has been released, the responses can be collected by accessing the Your Data tab on the Analyse page. These learner responses are displayed next to the unique ID given to the text input clip.
Note: Text input clips do not report to an LMS, these fields are intended for self reflection or for use with the Your Data feature. |
