User Roles are a set of permissions that can be applied to multiple users to manage what they can do in your account. Roles are assigned as part of the process of adding a new user, but you can change the role of an existing user at any time.
Before you begin
- The Elucidat User Management interface is shared by both Elucidat Author and Elucidat Create but each platform has its own user roles and access levels that need to be configured individually. To learn how to access the User Management page from each platform, see Accessing the User Management page.

- Some actions and configurations are exclusive to each platform. Depending on which platforms you can access, you may see more or fewer options than described here.
- To add new users to your account, you must be an Administrator or be assigned a custom user role that has user management permissions.
| Caution: Before changing a User Role, verify that the new permissions are suitable for all users with that role to prevent unintentionally granting or revoking access to features. See Checking the permissions included in a User Role if you're unsure how to check a User Role's permissions. |
Changing a user’s role
From the Users list
- Select the Users view from the sidebar menu
- Find the user you’d like to edit—use the search bar and filters to narrow down the results

Choose a new role from the drop-down menus under the following headers:
- Author role—this changes the user’s role in Elucidat Author
- Create role—this changes the user’s role in Elucidat Create
The new role will take effect immediately.
From the User information page
You can also change the user’s role from their User information page.
- Select the user to open the User information page.

Choose a new role from the drop-down menus under the following headers:
- Author role—this changes the user’s role in Elucidat Author
- Create role—this changes the user’s role in Elucidat Create
- Save your changes
Assigning a User Role to several users at once
You can bulk assign User Roles to update multiple users at once.
- Select the Users view from the sidebar menu
- Use the checkboxes to the left of the user's name to select the users you'd like to include in your report—select the top checkbox to select all users at once.
- Choose Change Author Role from the action menu
- Choose a new role from the drop-down menu
- Select Change Author Role to confirm your choice
| Information: Bulk assignment of User Roles is only available for Elucidat Author roles. Elucidat Create roles cannot be bulk assigned. |
