Restricted Author user role in Create

A new user role in Create is now available. Restricted Authors can create and edit content, but cannot export it from the platform—giving you more control over how your content from Create is distributed.

For more information, see Understanding user roles and access levels for a detailed breakdown of the Restricted Author role and how it compares with Administrator and Author roles.

Improvements and changes

  • Backup SCORMs have been updated to facilitate their compatibility with the SAP Success Factors LMS.
  • Captions that have been translated via Auto-Translate are now created with a clear, logical name. For example, for a file named example.srt translated into German, the resulting file name will be example-de.srt.
  • Added clearer error messaging informing when a newly added user already exists in your account as an External Collaborator. Error message now contains an itemized list of each invite that has failed.
  • Improved Word exports to ensure all text is exported despite formatting and style.
  • We've proactively improved how the platform handles CSV files to defend against CSV injection—an exploit where malicious code can be embedded in spreadsheet files as formulas that trigger on open.

New features

Note: These release notes focus on major new features, improvements, and bug fixes that users will experience directly. Unlike a detailed changelog which lists all technical changes, these notes highlight the most important updates.

Our team is constantly working on essential background improvements, including backend systems, infrastructure, and preparation for future features. While this parallel work is not listed here, it is strategically planned and executed alongside the visible improvements described in these notes.
