Configuring the navigation menu animation settings

There are several animation settings available to use with the navigation menu. Setting an animation for the menu modifies the transition that occurs when the menu is interacted with.

There are several options which have different effects:

  • Slide in
  • Morphing
  • Push
  • 3D Rotate
  • Pop-up

The default animation for the menu is Slide in (from right) which makes the menu panel open by sliding across from the right side of the screen.

In addition to changing the open animation of the menu, Pop-up will also change the format of the menu from a sidebar to a pop-up:

Editing the animation settings

1. Open any page of your course

2. Switch to Author

3. Select the navigation menu button (author-navigation-menu-button.png) in the header to open the menu

4. Select the edit menu author-edit-menu-icon.png at the top right of the menu panel:

4. Open the Variations menu

5. Select an animation from the list

6. Save your changes by selecting Save

You can check what the animation looks like in by selecting the navigation button menu in Author or Preview.

Caution: Animations may be treated as autoplay by browsers and devices, which could lead to restrictions based on a user's browser settings or preferences. For more details, refer to Understanding autoplay and its restrictions.
