Select one answer: Image Explorer Individual Feedback

An Image Explorer Individual Feedback question type is useful if you want to provide feedback with regards to each individual part of the image, e.g. provide details for different selected parts of a product.

 

Adding an Image Explorer Individual Feedback question type

1. Open the page in your course where you would like to add the Image Explorer Individual Feedback question type.

2. In Layout, navigate to the position on the page where you would like to add the Image Explorer Individual Feedback question type and select the Add here button.

3. Select Questions and Results:

4. Press Select one answer:

5. Select Image Explorer Individual Feedback:

6. An Image Explorer Individual Feedback element will be added to the page, with three answer buttons added by default. Press the Save button to save the changes.

 

 

Image Explorer Individual Feedback Settings

In Layout, the settings for the Image Explorer Individual Feedback question type can be found by pressing the Variations menu on the top right of the interaction:

Under Variations you have the option to select the Form Type. This setting determines whether the question is considered as part of a Survey, or used as a Knowledge Check:

Note: This question type can’t be used as an Assessment. To find out more about the different Form Types, see Feature Focus: Question Types.

 

The Hide Question Header checkbox allows you to show or hide the bold question header on the form.

 

 

Setting up an  Image Explorer Individual Feedback question type

In Author, select to activate the text boxes to change the default text to the question you want to ask and to add a sentence before the answer, if required:

Once an image has been added to the image container, the answer buttons can be dragged to the desired location on the image. To drag the answer button, first select the Edit menu on the top right of the button:

Then press and hold the Drag icon to drag the button to the desired location:

By default, all of the answer buttons are set to incorrect, and you will need to set the one correct answer. 

To select whether an answer button is correct (or change it back to incorrect), first select the Edit menu on the top right of the answer element and under Answer is… select your preferred setting for the answer:

To add more answer button options for the learner to choose from, press the + Add Answer Button on the top right of the interaction:

Alternatively, you can add a hotspot area to the image which can cover an area of the image the learner can select as a possible answer. To add a hotspot area to the image select + Answer Area:

Following the steps above, the hotspot area can be moved and set to either correct or incorrect. The size of the area can be changed by pressing and holding the Resize icon:

For each answer button or area  you can set the specific feedback. To do this, first press on the Submit button to bring up the popup to edit the feedback options:

Then select the answer button whose feedback you want to edit:

Note: The individual feedback popups descend in order and correlate to the answer buttons moving from right to left, e.g. the 3rd answer button corresponds to the 3rd feedback popup.

 

This will bring up a popup with default text which can be edited to provide feedback specific to that part of the image:

Image Explorer Individual Feedback Example

Here is a typical example of how an Image Explorer Individual Feedback question type is often used. This example asks the learner to determine which part of the image represents adding audio to a project. In Preview, the question displays with the answers left blank:

The learner then selects the answer button they believe to be located on the correct part of the image:

The popup for that answer appears, providing the learner with feedback specific to that answer:
