Auto-Translate service overview and language support

Service overview

Auto-Translate is powered by Amazon Translate (AWS) and DeepL. The service used is chosen automatically based on the language being translated and any modifier settings you apply.

Amazon Translate is the default service with the widest range of supported languages. However, if you choose Prioritize natural phrasing where available, Auto-Translate will use DeepL to perform the translation instead (for supported languages only).

If natural phrasing is enabled for one or more languages that DeepL does not support, the translation will still complete using Amazon Translate. In this case, natural phrasing is ignored.

Tone and brevity

You can apply additional modifier settings to change the tone or brevity. Support for these modifiers varies by service, and not all combinations are available for all languages. If tone and brevity are enabled for any unsupported languages, the translation for those languages will be completed using the default settings.

For some languages, using tone or brevity requires natural phrasing to be enabled. If this pre-requisite is not met, the translation will proceed using the default setting.

The table below details which languages must have natural phrasing applied for tone or brevity to work.
