Release modes

Release modes

There are four different types of ‘Release’:

SCORM package for Learning Management Systems (Online SCORM release)

Choosing this mode will create a SCORM zip file, this will be emailed to you and will be ready for you to upload directly to your LMS.

This mode allows you to use our ‘Re-release’ feature (to find out about this feature click here).

Most suitable for: If you use an LMS to deliver content.

This file includes: imsmanifest.xml, launch.html, assets will be held on the Elucidat servers.

Offline backup (Offline SCORM release)

Choosing this mode will create a SCORM zip file which will also include all of your images, audio files and video, this means that the file can be used in an environment without an internet connection.

Most suitable for: If you use an LMS to deliver content and your learners do not have internet connections.

This file includes: imsmanifest.xml, launch.html, image/audio/video assets, resources.

Please note! As Offline Backups contain all media elements in a single package, there is a limit to the size of course that can be released using this method. For example, Master Courses with a large number of child courses, each containing videos, might reach the limit. If you receive an error message to this effect, your options are:

  • Use a different release method (e.g. Online Release)
  • Reduce the size of the course
  • If you are releasing a Master Course and all its child courses in a single file, instead release each child course separately

Online (Public)

In this mode you will receive a URL which you can share with your Learners allowing them to access your course, this URL can also be embedded on a webpage if you use an iFrame.

This mode allows you to use our ‘Re-release’ feature (to find out about this feature click here).

Click here for more information on how to set up this mode.

Most suitable for: LRS users, or if you don’t have an LMS.

Online (Private)

In this mode you can use our API to request a time limited link to launch your course online.

This is the most secure method of releasing.

Please get in touch if you would like to use this mode.

Most suitable for: If you don’t have an LMS/LRS but still need to keep your content secure.
